It's hard to believe 7+ years have flown by.

I remember the day I got the bug to make the plunge into the car nut, Hotrod life, state of existence. Very close to "the bicycle is everything" state of existence, I'm currently in now. I loved the squared off lines of the 66 NOVA, the short fins , the curved down aggressive bezels etc etc etc.

The day I made the plung I installed a hitch on the Blazer called the owner up in Dallas told him hold the car I'm coming to get it, went to U-Haul picked up the tow dolly, then headed to the Credit Union on 225, on my way out town.

I was 21 and could barely contain myself, I was driving to get my first hotrod. Cash in hand and that sucker was mine. I arrived and there she was white, 4speed, 355ci , my parents just happened to be in Dallas at the time and wanted to come by and have a look also, I remember him starting The Nova (short little Italian guy and his kids didn't want him to sell it), the sound was like Hell boiling over, and then when he punched the gas the demons would come flying out.

He took me around the block man I loved it, but I had plans to go even faster. I had plans to haggle but when I got there I just wanted the car. The tow home was an adventure in itself people where giving me the thumbs up, I was all hell yeah that car is bitchin. Once I got into Houston things changed the lanes got real thin both tires of the tow dolly were riding the braille lines the tow dolly didn't even fit within the lane. It was Friday evening traffic and I was white knuckling it trying to keep from swiping other cars.

I finally made it home, I didn't even go inside the house, I pulled the tow dolly up the house and jumped in the Nova I flipped the gas kill switch, gently inserted the key and with a little anticipating turned the motor over, I was on cloud nine and could not wait to drive the car around the block.

To many memories but one stands out a couple days later I landed an extra part on Pearl Harbor movie, I remember flying 135mph down 225, that mourning, all drum breaks front end starting to float, sun just coming up on the horizon.

The projects in order where,

  1. mustang 2 front clip with disk breaks, (major brake failure nearly killed me David and his cousin one night, when the brake pushrod snaped)
  2. 6 speed Richmond was installed
  3. airbag ed the front end
  4. stroked the motor out 385ci
  5. new seats with shoulder belts, girlfriend was complaining about lap belts at 150mph
  6. painted the car crystal blue metallic with blue ghost flames.
  7. Sold it for 15,500 on EBAY

That was only the beging the current project I'm on now might make it the end well until we get the house built.
